Field Trips

The Colorado Railroad Museum welcomes field trips. Our facility can enhance many aspects of your school’s curriculum, especially the state-mandated fourth-grade social studies unit on Colorado history. Our room-sized timeline of Colorado railroad history is very informative.

Educational institutions of all levels can find useful teaching opportunities at the Museum. Call in advance so we can secure a docent to accompany your group, or make arrangements with our educational programming specialist for field trip assistance and curriculum enhancements. To make arrangements call 303-279-4591.

Children's Groups

Advanced reservations are required for children’s groups. Groups will have 90-minutes to visit the Museum exhibits and grounds plus time for lunch in the picnic area if desired. A maximum of 60 children per group and all groups must be supervised and controlled at all times. We require one adult supervisor for every seven children (ages 10 and up) and one supervisor for every five children (under 10). Supervisors receive free Museum admission.

Head Start children pay only $.75 per child; no other discounts apply. The ratio of one adult for every four children is necessary for adequate supervision. The group total is not to exceed 60.
